Shopping Taiwan Style

Oh diba? Feeling diplomat & important rin ako! Even though I was just a saling-ket-ket.. Hehe ;p
So then I watched & sipped tea as my dad & the head of the Coast Guard (w/ the aid of an interpreter.. the guy in the middle) talked about important matters regarding drugs.

And then it was time for us to go outside and get a taste of their usual routine as Coast Guards. We rode on their boat & I got to play with their equipment.

Hehe.. joke lang! Baka pagalitan nila ako! Hehe Ü
After having Chinese lunch once again, we went to their national museum.

And then to their Heroes Memorial.

But I didn't know what it was until after we left the place, which explains my.. umm.. rather silly pose. If I had known better, I would have posed demurely ;p
But the good thing was we got to watch the changing of the guards that stood at the entrance of the memorial. And there was a very cute Taiwanese Guard. Hehehe.. Ü

On the way for our dinner at a Chinese Resto (Yes! Yet Again!), I saw this umm.. horizontically challenged man, riding a mini-scooter, and wearing a... Hello Kitty Helmet! Hehe.. Tell me that isn't worth taking a picture of! ;p

After dinner, it was time for us to do some shopping! Yahoo!! Ü We went back to the same night market to pick up Mom's chandelier, and for me to get a chance to really check out the place. I wandered around alone throughout the whole area, and was able to score tops, shoes & bags at special prices! Although the stuff I got weren't exactly bargains, I knew they were well worth the price for their uniqueness. Double Yahoo!! Ü
I still had the same shopping high when I woke up for Day 4! My mom & I, together with two female agents from MJIB, went to a Chinese Traditions Shop where I got to buy knick-knacks as pasalubong, and to another shopping area where I got to buy more stuff again. Yahoo! Ü
Then, with our stomachs empty & shopping bags full (we chose to spend more time shopping than eating.. hehe), we met up with my dad & the rest of the PDEA officers at the Tower 101, the tallest tower in the world! It boasts not only of that title, but also of having the fastest elevator in the world. How cool! So after a quick lunch at the Tower 101 Mall, & a few hours of roaming around the place, we went up to the observation deck, and got a view of Taipei.

We even had a souvenir family photo taken! (Pardon the shabbiness of our outfits as compared to my dad's, we didn't have time to change anymore ;p) Ü

I'm thankful that that night's dinner wasn't Chinese food! (Don't get me wrong, I love Chinese Food! But if you ate it almost every single meal, you would be looking for something else, like steaks & potatoes) And that was what we had! Yahoo! Ü After our last dinner at this Taipei Trade Club,

my mom & I made our last minute shopping.. to which the last of my Taiwan Money was spent on. The next hours were all a blur of packing, waking up, preparing for the flight, saying goodbyes, sleeping on the flight, and finally, arriving here at home. Ü
With regards to my shopping escapades, I'm happy because 1. I didn't exceed beyond the pocket money I was given. Amazing tlga! Ü 2. I was able to buy some of the stuffs I've been wanting, like a pair of gold shoes, silver bag etc. Here's a picture of some of the stuff I bought. Hehe.. tamad na ako to take a pic of the other stuff I was able to acquire. Ü But heres a pic of one of my best buys, this cropped denim jacket w/ a worn out wash (Sorry, hindi ko man lang inayos yung mga clothes) for only P480! Ü

Despite the amazing time I had in Taiwan, I was so anxious & excited to get back already. You see, when I was at Taiwan, Nico had dengue & was confined at the hospital! *gasp* We were texting w/ each other the whole time, but he only told me about it the day before I went home. He had fever when I left, but we both had no idea it was gonna turn to something really serious. He didn't want to tell me 'coz he didn't want to ruin my vacation by making me worry. The sweet boy.. But of course I got worried! But all is good now, as he is already discharged from the hospital & is recovering already. Thank you Lord for taking care of Nico. Ü

Bigo Sa Shopping
But little did he know that we were back at our room by 12pm on the dot! Gasp! Even he couldnt believe it when he saw us. Haha.. the look on his face was really really funny! Wanna know the reason why we didn't make use of the 4 hours we had to go around the area?
'Coz we weren't able to exchange our US$ to Taiwan Money!!!
You see, they had this annoying rule that US$ with serial numbers starting with AB, CB & JL cannot be exchanged with their money. AND the dollars we had started w/ AB, CB & JL!(Except for a couple of bills.. Thank goodness!). Apparently, lots of counterfeit US$ had that serial number in Taiwan! We went to quite a number of banks within the area, and no such luck! They told us to go to the Main Branch of the Bank of Taiwan & have it exchanged there. But it was really really far from our place! *whining*. So anyway, armed with a couple of benjamins exchanged, we sadly made our way to the boutiques along the road. (You should have seen us! We were frustrated at the thought of shopping unarmed.. Kakatawa! Our shoulders were slumped & we were walking limply.. )
But this one boutique gave us our old energy back! Ü It was a shop filled with designer goodies & really nice leather bags. I particularly liked this colorful trenchcoat, but its Max Mara price tag made my knees weak. Oh, the longing! But I cannot afford it! *boo hoo!* I wouldn't shell out P25K for this noh! Exag & really impractical! But its just too cute tlga.. I can dream, right? Hehe Ü

One person left the shop smiling, and it wasn't me. ;p My mom got 2 uber cute Betsey Johnson tops.. so the score is: 2 for Mom, zero for me. Hehe.. Ü I couldn't believe that I wasn't able to buy anything the whole time we were out. Even Eleanor was surprised that I went back to the hotel w/o a shopping bag in tow. (We got to chat a bit when i checked my mail). Oh well! Ü
At around 3pm, we met up w/ my dad & went to the Taipei County Yingko Ceramics Museum.

Aside from the silver bag I've been wanting for the longest time, these two made me smile.
1. This all-dolled up dog I saw at the night market! Parang stuffed toy! Ü

2. This small car I saw! Hehe.. Ü

Off to Taiwan!
Armed with no sleep at all (Because I am still guilty of being a crammer! I had to finish my articles for the Smart Instyle thing due the same day, August 15!), I flew to Taipei w/ my parents & 3 other officers from PDEA. We arrived at the Chang Kai Shek International Airport at around 2:30pm, & was greeted by the agents from MJIB (They are the counterpart of PDEA in Taiwan. They are the reason why we went there.. 'coz they invited my Dad to visit their agency).
We then checked in at our "home" for the next few days, Howard Hotel. We unpacked & relaxed for a bit in our room.

We had a good hour left before our dinner to be hosted by the MJIB, so we killed time by checking out the stores at the hotel. Super shopaholic talaga mom ko, she was able to buy something agad in that small amount of time that we looked around! Hehe.. So after that, we just took a couple of pics at their lobby.

We had dinner at China Pa. We were greeted by these statues at the entrance of the resto.

The place is great! Their ambience is really romantic, plus the food.. ooh the food!! We had like a 12 course meal! Exag tlga! Plus their presentations were really something. Like the way they served this lamb.. w/ the flames & all that jazz! Hehe.. aliw.. thats Maj. Bartolome at the background.

Aside from their food, I absolutely adore their restroom! hehe.. Ang landi ksi!

Plus this toilet bowl! Haha.. you must be wondering why i took a pic of this! Astig ksi eh! If you press that tiny red button, the plastic wrapping of the toilet seat rotates, thus changing plastic sheets for you to use. With background music pa yan ha! And with a "Welcome To Taipei" greeting pa! Haha.. o diba, bongga? ;p

The dinner took a looooong time that I actually fell asleep on their couch! Needless to say, there were no night markets for us to conquer that night. We went straight back to the hotel to recharge for a full day of shopping the next day. I slept at 11pm that night, the earliest that I've slept for the loooooooongest time. And I am not exaggerating Ü
